Hear me out.

Disclaimer: All cakes are equal and unique in their traits, personalities, and soul. So, no judgment here.

I tried the Grand Marnier Charlotte cake yesterday, and I might have dreamed about it last night. It is that good.

First, let’s feast with our eyes (Que Chopin Ballad №3):

Slice of the heavenly Grand Marnier #Les Delices Bakery

On top is a generous mountain of chocolate flakes visually stimulating your senses as if a pile of leaves fallen on the ground. The next layer is the rich chocolate mousse, a layer of Bavarian cream, and yellow cake. The outer layer is made out of lady fingers.

One word: exquisite

My spoon can go smoothly over all layers. The first wave of flavor comes from the rich, slightly bitter cocoa flavor from the chocolate mousse that gives a silky mouthfeel. But wait, the Bavarian cream and the yellow cake truly complement the chocolate well as the balanced sweetness and the Grand Marnier orange liqueur create a harmonious melody. The delicate ladyfingers provide additional sweetness.

I think the cake is best enjoyed with a cup of black tea, Darjeeling perhaps?

With a cup of tea, it would be fantastic relaxation.

Overall, the Grand Marnier cake is on the light, fluffy side of the cake spectrum as its highlight is the delicacy and the artisanship.

As I mentioned before, every cake has its personality. So if it is up to me, I think Grand Marnier personified would be a picturesque, joyful, and carefree soul.
